The U.S. Department of Energy and the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center are excited to announce that a new, modernized DSIRE is under construction. The new version of DSIRE will offer significant improvements over the current version, including expanded data accessibility and an array of new tools for site users. The new DSIRE site will be available in December 2014. Staff are currently working hard on the new version of DSIRE but are also maintaining the content of the current version of DSIRE. Weatherization Measures
Insulation: $0.50/sq ft, up to 70% of project cost
Duct Sealing: up to $400
Windows: $5.00/sq ft, up to 70% of project cost
Equipment Requirements:Appliances must be Energy Star rated
Clothes Washer: MEF 2.0, WF 6.0 minimum, electric water heating only
Freezer: Minimum size 7.75 cu. ft, 10% more efficient than Federal standard
Refrigerator: Minimum size 7.75 cu. ft., 20% more efficient than Federal standard
Refrigerator Recycling: Must be functional, at least 10 cu. ft., and have proof of disposal
Electric Water Heater: .91 - .93 minimum, depending on size
Air-Source Heat Pump: HSPF 9, SEER 14 minimum; PTCS specifications

Weatherization Measures
Insulation: Floor R-19, Ceiling R-49, Wall R-7 - R-21, Duct R-8 - R-11
Duct Sealing: PTCS specifications
Windows: U-factor .30 or lower

Summary:

Emerald People's Utility District (EPUD) offers several incentives for its residential customers to increase the energy efficiency of homes. EPUD offers rebates for Energy Star rated appliances, heat pumps, insulation, windows, lighting, and Energy Star homes. All equipment must meet program requirements in order to be eligible for rebates. Rebate forms and program details are available on the program web site listed above. Rebates are also available for the proper disposal and recycling of old refrigerators. The old refrigerator must be at least 10 cu. ft in capacity and verified as functional.

EPUD also offers low interest loans for some of the items covered under these rebates. Contact EPUD for more information on this and other offerings.
