Summary:
Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative. SSVEC offers the Member Loan Program to residential customers to improve the energy efficiency of eligible homes. The program assists individuals who have been members for at least one year with no more than two delinquencies in the past year. Loans for heat pumps will be provided at a 7% interest rate, repayable up to 84 months. Customers who make building envelope improvements are eligible to receive a 0% interest loan, repayable over 84 months. Heat pumps must be at least 14 SEER or higher. Loans can range from $2,000 - $10,000. Qualified members may apply for the loan online with a $20 processing fee and $30 recording fee, payable at the time loan papers are signed.
SSVEC's Energy Efficiency Zero Loan Program provides funds for customers to upgrade homes built before 1980. The loan is capped at $20,000, and, as the name suggest, is loaned at 0% interest. Improvements covered by the loan include:
- Increase attic insulation to R-38 (minimum)
- Replace single pane windows with dual pane, U-value of at least .58
- Replace wood exterior doors with insulated steel or fiberglass doors
- Air Sealing
- Exterior siding upgrade to R-5 (minimum)
- Upgrade HVAC
- Install “on demand” hot water circulating pump
